In talking to parents, I often hear "I can not cook healthy meals because it costs too much" or "I don't have time" or "my kids won't eat that". So many excuses.....
My response, (and no, it is not a fluffy nice response), is that you had kids. They are your responsibility. They only live once (TOLO)....
Why on earth would you choose to work long hours in exchange for their health and mental wellbeing?
Why on earth would you choose to have a brand new vehicle or "stuff" in exchange for their health and mental wellbeing?
Why on earth would you allow your kids to decide what they want to eat? They don't know what is best for them. They will choose taste over health any day of the week. Eventually, if given no unhealthy choices, they will eat healthy foods.....and.....they will like it..... Eventually. They will not starve.
So, we must think about this carefully. It is such a short time that your kids depend on you. Don't make excuses for putting other things in front of what is truly best for your child. They need healthy food and good attentive parenting more than they need the newest x-box game.
What could possibly be more important?
Just for added incentive, it is not only great for them, it is great for their children, and their children's children, and so on. Healthy habits will perpetuate through the generations.
Just imagine if everyone put their children's health and mental wellbeing first. The world would be......
